A: According to the 2007 CIPD survey into recruitment & retention, 73% of companies used agencies. If you are part of the 27% that did not use agency in 2007 you might need to one day, even if it is for only one key hire. By asking agencies to register, you are able to filter through all the applications and decide upon those that meet your criteria at that given time. The registration process will also allow you to communicate your low agency usage to these agencies and you will no longer be such a target for their calls/emails.
